Janice “Jan” Eileen Welker, age 75, a resident of Mt. Sterling Health & Rehab Center in Mount Sterling, IL, and formerly of Jefferson, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at the nursing home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1948, in Carroll, the daughter of Thomas Leo “Ike”, Jr. and Margaret Mary Healy Lyons.
Janice worked as an office administrator for several companies in Colorado and Iowa before her retirement.
She graduated from Scranton High School with the class of 1966 and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson. Janice always enjoyed bowling and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Survivors include her sister Connie Hoyt (Dennis) of Quincy, IL; her brother Pat Lyons of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews including Megan Bustamante (Nick), Casey Lyons, Brad Hoyt (Nikki), Mark Hoyt and Shannon Farlow (Scott); she is also survived and her aunt Patsy Monthei of Jefferson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Janet in infancy, and her sister-in-law Joanie Smith Lyons.
According to her wishes, Janice’s body has been cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date in Jefferson.
Memorials are suggested to Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Blessing Foundation for Hospice, or Mt. Sterling Health & Rehab Activity Fund, and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Ave, Mt. Sterling, IL 62353.
